This 12x12ft participatory and interactive Quilt block functions as a memorial to people who died of HIV/AIDS and are unrecorded by the archive of the AIDS Memorial Quit. Initially an homage to french philosopher Michel Foucault, reflection during the creative process led us to pivot to use Foucault’s work to celebrate the people who we know existed, but who are not recorded anywhere.

This project received contributions from more than 40 people from 6 different countries. In its inaugural display, at the Bobst Library at NYU, visitors were asked to contribute their reflections to audio recorders sewed on the center of the quilt. The quilt was dedicated and submitted to the AIDS Memorial Quilt in December 2023.
